On December 19, 2012, IEEPA secretary-general Jon Li visited Austrian Embassy in China and held friendly talks with Austrian ambassador Irene Giner - Reichl on the cooperative matters in energy conservation and environmental protection fields.
First, Jon Li expressed thanks for Ms. Irene¡¯s support and participation in the 5th WEC, and also hoped to deepen the cooperation with Austria embassy so as to support IEEPA-led projects on assisting second or third-tier cities in China in developing energy conservation and environmental protection industries.
Jon Li said: Chinese government has allotted 4.5 trillion RMB during the twelfth five-year plan period to boost the development of energy conservation and environmental protection industries, as the same time, numerous cities also have made plans to develop green and low carbon project. However, because of the deficiency of practical technologies and successful cases, Chinese cities are still at the primary stage in this regard, which offer rare opportunity for foreign enterprises with advantageous technologies to enter into Chinese market.
Ms. Irene agreed the view and said Austrian Embassy may support IEEPA's work in terms of technology introduction and enterprise exchanges, and also welcomed IEEPA to pay a visit to Austria in the future. She said, a bunch of potential cooperation opportunities existed between Austria and China, Austrian Embassy may form a long-term cooperation on specific cooperative field and technology content.
In the end, both sides made an exchange on IEEPA¡¯s high-level consultative meeting in 2013 and formed a uniform idea on this meeting. Staffs from the office of Austrian Embassy and IEEPA Admin Office and Secretariat also joined this talk.
